Nathan Tompkins is an innovative cinematographer and film student pursuing a degree in Film & Media Production at Taylor University. Nathan has cultivated a portfolio of short films, music videos, and corporate content, noted for their composition and emotional resonance. His technical mastery of equipment such as the Sony FS7 and RED Weapon, combined with a certification in Avid media composer and advanced proficiency in DaVinci Resolve and Adobe Creative Suite, enables him to transform concepts into polished visual experiences.

During his two years interning at Hillcrest Covenant Church, Nathan spearheaded the production of over 20 multimedia projects, including many giving campaigns, rethinking live church production during Covid, and a narrative series based on easter. As a freelance cinematographer in the Kansas City area, he collaborated with startups during Covid and helped introduce their products to the mainstream during a locked-down version of life. His work emphasizes authenticity, often using natural lighting and handheld camera movements inspired by his passion for mountain biking and adventure photography.

Beyond the lens, Nathan’s curiosity drives him to explore and travel—from the Rockies to urban cities—capturing stills that shape his cinematic look. He views travel as a catalyst for cultural storytelling, a theme he aims to explore in upcoming projects. Committed to ethical storytelling, Nathan has worked with local nonprofits, documenting their impactful stories.

Looking ahead, he aspires to work on documentary teams or on commercial media teams that prioritize impactful visual narratives, blending his technical expertise with a mission to bring impact. When not on set, Nathan can be found trail-riding with his GoPro in tow or on one of his photography adventures that bring together his love for motion and stillness.
